Polyanionic cellulose (PAC) is a white or pale yellow powder, non-toxic and odorless, readily soluble in water, and is an anionic cellulose ether. PAC is closely related to sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and is generally considered a high-purity, highly substituted, and more stable cellulose ether product. In oil and gas drilling fluids, it is mainly used to reduce filtration loss, improve mud rheological properties, enhance wellbore stability, and improve solid suspension capacity. It also has applications in food, pharmaceuticals, daily chemicals, papermaking, coatings, ceramics, and building materials. It is important to note that in this report, PAC refers to polyanionic cellulose and does not include polyaluminum chloride (PAC) used in water treatment.
