or copolymer-based hydrogels. Polymers that contain NIPAM shrink dramatically above 33°C. N-isopropyl acrylamide exhibits distinctive solubility behavior in water. It is useful in introducing strong polar amide group into hydrophobic polymer by suspension polymerization or emulsion polymerization. Used as water retention and absorbing agents, temperature-sensitive thickeners.
