The supply chain begins upstream with specialty monomers (thiophenes, benzothiadiazoles, diketopyrrolopyrroles), NIR dyes or rare-earth complexes, and high-purity solvents produced by fine-chemical suppliers; midstream, polymer chemistry firms and advanced materials labs perform controlled polymerization, molecular-weight tuning, and spectral engineering to produce NIR-emissive resins or masterbatches; downstream, these polymers are compounded into inks, films, fibers, or sensor layers by coating-material and optoelectronic component manufacturers, and finally integrated by end-users in medical devices, photonic sensors, smart packaging, security printing, and infrared-active textiles—where performance is defined by emission wavelength stability, quantum efficiency, biocompatibility, and long-term photostability.
