About Investcorp Bank B.S.C.

Investcorp Bank B.S.C. (the Bank) provides wholesale banking services in Bahrain. The Bank is a holding company owning various subsidiaries.

The Bank’s principal activity is providing products in three alternative investment asset classes to its client base and co-investing in these alongside its clients. The alternative investment asset classes in which the Bank specializes are private equity, hedge funds and real estate. Within the private equity asset class the Bank offers three products namely, U.S. and European Buy-outs, Technology Small Cap investments, and Gulf Growth Capital.

The Bank, in carrying out its activities, performs two principal roles: acts as an intermediary by bringing global alternative investment opportunities to its clients; and acts as a principal investor by co-investing its balance sheet in each of its investment products alongside its clients.


As an intermediary: The Bank acts as an intermediary by arranging and managing alternative investment assets for institutional and high net worth clients through operating centers in the Kingdom of Bahrain, London, New York and Los Angeles. Its clients are primarily based in the Arabian Gulf. The Bank also targets institutional investors in the United States and Europe.

As a principal: The Bank co-invests along with clients in all the alternative investment asset products it offers to its clients.

Lines of Business

The lines of business, together with their related product offerings and the primary reporting segments are as follows:

U.S. and European Buy-Outs (Buy-outs): The Buy-outs team, based in London and New York, arranges private equity buy-out investments in mid-size companies in North America and Western Europe. These investments are placed primarily on a deal-by-deal basis with the Bank’s investor base in the Gulf, and also offered through conventional fund structures to international institutional investors.

Technology Small Cap Investments (TSI): The TSI team, based in London and New York, arranges and manages investments in technology small cap companies in North America and Western Europe. These investments are offered to clients through fund structures that ensure diversification across several investments. It also has co-investments alongside its clients in the Technology Funds.

Gulf Growth Capital (GGC): The GGC team, based in Bahrain, targets buy and build (Greenfield) investment opportunities primarily in the Arabian Gulf. The team would also consider, on a selective basis, similar investment opportunities in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. It would also have co-investment alongside its clients in the GGC Fund(s).

Hedge Funds (HF): The HF team operating from New York manages Investcorp's Fund of Hedge Funds business and Single Managers business including proprietary co-investment as well as client assets.

Real Estate (RE): The RE team, based in New York and Los Angeles, arranges investments in US-based properties. Several properties are assembled into diversified portfolios that are then placed individually with the Bank’s investor base in the Gulf. Further the Bank also provides its investor base with mezzanine investment opportunities through fund structures, with the Bank retaining a small portion as a co-investment on its own balance sheet. The property investments are managed by the RE team on behalf of investors for value optimization up until realization.
