FNB United Corp. operates as a bank holding company for CommunityONE Bank, National Association that provides consumer, mortgage, and business banking services to individual and business customers in North Carolina.

The company conducts its operations in Alamance, Alexander, Ashe, Catawba, Chatham, Gaston, Guilford, Iredell, Mecklenburg, Montgomery, Moore, Orange, Randolph, Richmond, Rowan, Scotland, Watauga, and Wilkes counties in North Carolina. It has 45 offices, including the headquarters office in the City of Asheboro.

The company’s banking services include regular checking accounts, interest checking accounts (including package account versions that offer various products and services), money market accounts, savings accounts, certificates of deposit, individual retirement accounts, debit cards, credit cards (offered through an agent relationship), and loans -- both secured and unsecured -- for business, agricultural, and personal use.

Other services offered by the company include home mortgages, online and mobile banking, cash management, investment management and trust services. It also has automated teller machines and is a member of Plus, a national automated teller machine network, and Star, a regional network. The company offers brokered deposits and time deposits.

As of December 31, 2009, the company’s loan portfolio included commercial and agricultural loans; real estate-construction loans; 1-4 family residential loans; commercial loans; and consumer loans.
