Eagle Bancorp, Inc. operates as the holding company for EagleBank that provides various commercial and consumer banking services. As of December 31, 2009, the company operated a total of 14 offices which comprised 8 offices serving Montgomery County, Maryland, 5 offices in the District of Columbia, and 1 office in Fairfax County, Virginia.

Services

The company offers commercial banking services to its business and professional clients, as well as consumer banking services to individuals living and/or working in the service area. It focuses on providing commercial banking services to sole proprietors, small and medium-sized businesses, partnerships, corporations, non-profit organizations and associations, and investors living and working in and near its primary service area. A range of retail banking services are offered to accommodate the individual needs of both corporate customers, as well as the community the company serves. These services include the usual deposit functions of commercial banks, including business and personal checking accounts, time deposits, ‘NOW’ accounts, and money market and savings accounts, business; construction, and commercial loans, residential mortgages, and consumer loans; and cash management services. The company has been designated a preferred lender by the Small Business Administration (SBA).

The company offers a loan portfolio consisting primarily of traditional business and real estate secured loans with a substantial portion being variable rates, where the cash flow of the borrower/borrower's business is the principal source of debt service with a secondary emphasis on collateral. Real estate loans are made for commercial purposes and are structured using both variable and fixed rates and renegotiable rates which adjust in 3 to 5 years, with maturities of 5 to 10 years. Consumer loans are made on the traditional installment basis for various purposes.

The company’s other services include cash management services, such as electronic banking, business sweep accounts, lock box, account reconciliation services, credit card depository, professional settlement services, including title insurance placement, safety deposit boxes, and Automated Clearing House origination. After-hours depositories and ATM service are also available.

The company maintains portfolios of short term investments and investment securities consisting primarily of the U.S. Agency bonds and mortgage backed securities.
