SUMMARY

According GlobalData, mining, manufacturing and utilities contributed 33.03% to the country’s gross value added (GVA) in 2020, followed by wholesale, retail and hotels (21.2%) and financial intermediation, real estate and business activities (11.07%).
Four major states (Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Sarawak and Johor) contributed 45.5% of the country’s GDP in 2019 and comprised 55.61% of Malaysia’s population in 2018.
