Lebanon’s unemployment rate was 13.3% of total labor force in 2020. Due to the slowdown in global economic activity arising from COVID-19 pandemic, the unemployment in Lebanon decreased by 8.25% and reached 14.5% in 2021.

Lebanon’s per capita GDP was USD 6,095.57 whereas purchasing power parity (PPP) based per capita GDP was USD 12,977.2 for the year 2021.

In 2020, Lebanon government’s revenue was LBP 15,338.559 billion whereas the expenditure was LBP 18,711.559 billion. This resulted in Lebanon government’s net lending / borrowing negative at LBP 3373 billion in 2020 indicating that not enough financial resources were made available by the Lebanon government to boost economic growth.

The current account balance for Lebanon was negative USD 3.876 billion for the year 2021. It further increased at a CAGR of 29.85% and reach negative USD 2.985 billion in 2021. This negative current account balance indicates that Lebanon remained a net borrower from rest of the world in 2021.
