Egypt: Country Profile
Egypt’s economy will grow modestly in 2016. Public investment in infrastructure and gains in private consumption will be the main drivers. Security issues as well as the slow implementation of new projects and a lack of structural reforms constrain growth. Unemployment is falling but remains in double digits. Growth of real GDP should be around 4.0% per year in the medium term. However, growth of 6-8% per year is needed to reduce the jobless pool.
