An immersion battery pack is a battery system in which battery modules, cells, or the entire system are directly submerged in an electrically insulating, non-conductive coolant (such as fluorinated fluids, synthetic hydrocarbons, or esters). Heat exchange occurs through direct contact between the coolant and the battery surfaces, enabling efficient heat dissipation and balanced thermal management.

The upstream segment of the industry chain primarily comprises suppliers of lithium-ion cells (e.g., LFP, ternary lithium), battery management systems (BMS), battery enclosure materials, sealing materials, circulation pumps, heat exchangers, and dielectric coolants (e.g., fluorinated fluids, synthetic hydrocarbons, esters). The midstream segment consists of manufacturers of immersion battery packs and thermal management systems; these companies integrate battery systems, design coolant circulation loops, implement thermal management controls and safety protection technologies, and submerge cells directly into insulating coolant to assemble the complete battery pack. Downstream applications primarily include new energy vehicles, energy storage systems (ESS), and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).
