Development and Market of Corn Starch Industry in China
INTRODUCTION
Chinese corn starch production capacity was 33 million tons, in 2014; the processible corns were 44.8 million tons. Chinese national corn starch stockpile by the end of 2014 was 83.2 million tons, which included 2.5 million tons from import; the total accumulated stockpile was 160 million tons. Under the impacts of national macroeconomic policy, the total consumption was 200.2 million tons in 2014, 5.7 million tons increased YOY.
Currently, market demand on corn starch is relative weak; there were over 14.6 million tons corn starch surplus by the end of 2014. As cereal continue import and corns imported from Ukraine, the corn starch price will remain in a relative low level for a while.
