Carbon fiber rotor sheaths are reinforcing protective structures used on the exterior of high-speed permanent magnet motor rotors, made from high-performance carbon fiber composite materials. Through their high strength and lightweight characteristics, they encase and lock the magnets, effectively preventing magnet scattering caused by centrifugal force during high-speed rotation. Simultaneously, they reduce eddy current losses, narrow the air gap, and significantly improve the motor's power density and stability.

Upstream, the focus is on high-performance raw materials and precision manufacturing equipment. The core materials are high-modulus or high-strength carbon fiber and high-temperature resistant special epoxy resin. Furthermore, the high-precision fiber winding machine, tension control system, and curing mold required for production determine the initial mechanical properties of the sheath. The structural integrity and performance of the carbon fiber sleeve rotor depend on the integration method of fixing the composite material to the magnet surface. Although various assembly technologies exist, they differ significantly in terms of prestressing capacity, thermal management, production scalability, and long-term reliability.

In the field of high-performance motor manufacturing, carbon fiber rotor sheaths are considered a strategic supporting material for achieving 'high power density' and 'ultra-high speed'. As motor speeds move from the traditional 15,000 rpm to a new era of 25,000 rpm and even 100,000 rpm, traditional alloy sheaths are rapidly reaching their physical limits due to their heavy weight and huge eddy current losses under high-frequency magnetic fields.
