ADAS Radar Cover Materials are low-dielectric, low-loss, or electromagnetic wave-absorbing functional materials used in automotive millimeter-wave radar radomes, rear covers, absorbing inserts, radar-emblem structures, and bumper transmission regions. These materials typically include modified PBT, PC/ABS, PC/PBT, modified PPE, PPS, PA, and composite systems. They are required to maintain stable electromagnetic wave transmission, low reflection, low warpage, weather resistance, hydrolysis resistance, chemical resistance, and dimensional stability under radar frequency bands such as 24 GHz, 77/79 GHz, or 76?81 GHz. They must also be compatible with injection molding, dual-shot molding, laser welding, surface decoration, and OEM validation processes. These materials are widely used in ADAS systems such as AEB, ACC, BSD, LCA, parking assistance, and 4D imaging radar. The overall gross margin is approximately 42%.

Downstream demand is primarily driven by stricter automotive active safety regulations, increased penetration of Level 2 and above assisted driving systems, adoption of 4D imaging radar, and the rising number of radar units per vehicle. Radar sensors are increasingly integrated into logos, bumpers, front compartments, and vehicle corners. As a result, materials must not only meet structural and aesthetic requirements but also minimize signal attenuation, reflection, ghosting, and interference caused by obstacles, thereby reducing false detection risks. This is accelerating the transition from conventional exterior plastics to automotive-grade functional materials with verified electromagnetic performance.

Product development is focused on low dielectric constant (Dk) and low dielectric loss (Df) transmission materials, radar-compatible PBT/PC alloys, low-dielectric PPE systems, thermoplastic radar-absorbing materials, EMI shielding composites, and grades suitable for dual-shot molding and laser welding. Leading suppliers are developing materials targeting 77/79 GHz frequency bands with ultra-thin walls, low warpage, hydrolysis resistance, salt spray resistance, paintability, and batch-to-batch consistency. Material selection is increasingly shifting from purely mechanical performance metrics to a closed-loop validation system covering material samples, component-level testing, and full-vehicle electromagnetic performance evaluation.
