Asia is the Largest Consumer of VCM

Global VCM demand in the year 2009 was 29 million tons. Demand in Asia Pacific was largest in 2009, followed by North America. VCM demand in Asia Pacific in 2009 was 16.4 million tons. The share of Asia Pacific was thus 56.4%. North America had a demand of 5.9 million tons and its share was 20.3%. Europe had a VCM demand of 4.8 million tons, followed by South and Central America with a demand of 1.2 million tons, and the Middle East with a demand of 0.8 million tons. Europe had a demand share of 16.5%, followed by South and Central America with a share of 4.1%, and the Middle East with a share of 2.7%.

VCM is a chemical intermediate which is used to produce PVC. Almost all VCM is used to produce PVC globally.
