According to the data of State Statistical Committee of Uzbekistan, the share of non-state sector in the total output of agricultural products accounted for 99.9%. Thus the share of industrial production of Dried Fruit and Nuts is rather small.
Uzbekistan is the leader of dried grape production among Middle-Asian countries. Raisins make up 50% of all the exported volume on the Uzbek market.
Moreover, peanuts (15%) and different Dried Fruit and Nuts mixtures (13%) also receive a large share on the Dried Fruit and Nuts market. As informed by FAO (the UN Food and Agricultural Organization), Uzbekistan grows about 7.5 thousand tons of peanuts; its export made up 7.14 thousand tons in 2008.
Major consumer of Dried Fruit and Nuts provided by Uzbekistan is Russia (90% of the total volume).
It is notable that global production of Dried Fruit dropped by 15 – 20% in 2009, while the prices for these products rose by 30%.
In 2008 Uzbekistan exported $58 mln worth volume of Dried Fruit and Nuts. As compared to 2007 export declined by 9%. The share of export on the Dried Fruit and Nuts market is notably significant. Practically all the Dried Fruit and Nuts manufactured in the country are exported.
