Demand for Barite from China are at the High Level.

China is the principal source of barite for U.S. drillers. Demand for barite from China is so great that lower-grade reserves are being mined. While there is a large number of small Chinese mining companies, only a few key traders and direct exporters supply the main consumers in Europe and North America.

Chinese production of drilling-grade barite is located in Guangxi Province while much of the non-drilling-grade ore is mined in Guizhou in the Guiyand City area. The best Chinese white barite is unequaled in terms of quality and available volume globally, so to fill any significant gap in the tonnages currently exported to Europe and North America would be a challenge.

Barite is used as a filler, extender, or weighting agent in products such as paints, plastics, and rubber. Some specific uses include its use in brake and clutch pads for automobiles, automobile paint primer for metal protection and gloss, and to add weight to rubber mudflaps on trucks and to the cement jacket around petroleum pipelines under water.
