Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corporation’s Vietnam PA6 Plant to Come Onstream By 2010

11 May 2009 • by Natalie Aster

The new polyamide 6 plant in Vietnam planned by Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corporation (Taiwan) is set to come on stream by 2010. In June 2008, Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corporation (FCFC) and Uhde Inventa-Fischer (Germany) signed a contract for a 47,000 mtpa polyamide 6 plant to be located in the south of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Uhde Inventa-Fischer will deliver to FCFC the plant for the production of polyamide 6 including the know-how, and the license for the High Performance PA 6 (HPPA).

The technology used in the plant will be Uhde Inventa-Fischer’s well-proven process, in combination with the reliable high-performance extractor. Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corporation chose this process technology because it fulfils the customer’s high standards regarding productivity and product quality – thereby strengthening FCFC’s market position. Other benefits include excellent raw material yield and the significantly lower amount of process energy, both characteristics of this well-established polyamide process.
