Vietnam Telecom Services Revenue to Post 4.2% CAGR to 2021, States GlobalData in Its Research Report Available at MarketPublishers.com

LONDON – In 2016, the revenue of the Vietnamese telecommunications services industry reached USD 6.9 billion (or 3.4% of its nominal GDP), a decrease of 0.7% YoY. Meantime, in local currency, the revenue grew by 1.6% over the review period, primarily due to the growth in revenues of mobile data and fixed broadband services. The mobile data segment is the major revenue contributor, capturing 36.8% of total service revenue as of 2016; this is owing to surging popularity of OTT services and rising adoption of smartphones alongside existence of attractive data plans. Operators are expected to focus on the 4G services expansion and the deployments of fiber networks to enhance broadband infrastructure country-wide.

The Vietnamese total telecom service revenue is anticipated to register a 4.2% CAGR through to 2021.

The Vietnam telecommunications industry is projected to be led by Mobifone and Viettel Vietnam. The latter is likely to be the biggest player in the telecom market by 2021, due to investments in the rollout and expansion of 4G services coupled with fixed infrastructure improvement.
