HNWIs & Wealth Sector in the UAE Discussed in Topical WealthInsight Market Study Published at MarketPublishers.com

04 Feb 2015 • by Natalie Aster

LONDON – The high net worth individuals (HNWIs) in the United Arab Emirates held USD 92.5 billion (more than 36%) of their wealth outside their homeland as of 2013, which is above the global average of 20–30%. Forecasts suggest external asset holdings account for 34% of total HNWI assets by 2018, standing at USD 118 billion. Europe accounted for around 33% of these foreign assets as of 2013, followed by the APAC (just over 23.5%), the Middle East (20.5%), North America (close to 10%), Africa (9%), and South America (4%).

Domestic HNWIs’ allocations to Europe decreased as against other regions, from 36.7% in 2009 to nearly 33% in 2013. The APAC and Africa were considered as emerging regions in terms of global investments. Forecasts suggest HNWIs keep on reducing their investment in Europe over the next four years, reaching 30% by 2018, with Africa and the APAC region being the main growth drivers.
