Peru Telecom & Pay-TV Market Analysed & Forecast in New Pyramid Research Report Available at MarketPublishers.com

02 Feb 2015 • by Natalie Aster

LONDON – Peru’s telecommunications services market is forecast to generate USD 5 billion in revenue as of 2014, recording a YoY growth of 0.9%. With the 5th largest population in Latin America, Peru is home to the region’s 7th biggest telecom services sector.

In the Peruvian mobile marketplace, Movistar and Claro account for close to 94% of the nation’s total mobile subscriptions. Moving forward, the two companies’ share of the market is expected to decrease as they face fierce competition from Entel and new entrant Bitel, which are executing offensive pricing strategies. Broadband penetration rates in the country remain low as against that of other markets in Latin America.

The country’s pay-TV service revenues were estimated at USD 351 million in 2014. The adoption of pay-TV services in Peru is much lower than the region's average of around 41.5%, with a household penetration rate of just under 21.5%, or 1.4 million subscriptions.
