Korea Zinc Co. Ltd. Wins Energy Management Award According to BAC Company Report

LONDON – Beginning of July Korea Zinc participated in Energy Discussion ceremony held at SETEC (Seoul Trade Exhibition & Convention). The company was awarded by a medal of honor as an “Innovative Energy Saving Company”. The ceremony was organized to gather industry specialists and scientists that would discuss modern energy challenges and opportunities. Energy shortage and conservation, wise power management and other related topics were offered. Korea Zinc expressed its aim to become world-leading metal smelting company that implements the most advanced and innovative energy policies.

Korea Zinc has delivered flat financial performance in the beginning of 2012. Revenue amounted to KRW 1.33 trillion, gross profit comprised KRW 240 billion, operating income equaled KRW 216.1 billion, net income was KRW 168.4 billion. Silver contributed the biggest revenue amount – 42.4%, zinc generated 27.7%, lead added 15%, gold brought 3.4%, and other products accumulated 11.5%. Preliminary Q2 2012 results stipulate weak performance against Q2 2011: sales declined by 5.5% to KRW 1.42 trillion, net income lost 6.9% and equaled KRW 166.2 billion. This is way lower than Bloomberg estimations of KRW 199.5 billion.
