SalMar ASA Acquired 10 Licenses from Villa Arctic AS According to BAC Company Report

LONDON – In February SalMar signed an agreement with Villa Arctic AS upon the purchase of 10 licenses, a plant in Laksefjorden and 50% of its stored biomass. The two companies started cooperative production at the facility on 1 April. This agreement will last till 2015. For SalMar these cooperative efforts are a key to Northern region of Norway, where it desires to strengthen its position. The licenses cost NOK 110 M, while the plant and its assets were priced NOK 57 M.

SalMar is successful in its strategy to improve quality and scope of business. Last quarter ended March 2012 brought revenue of NOK 811.7 M, gross profit of NOK 366.2 M, operating income of NOK 118.5 M, net income of NOK 94.7%. This can be regarded as strong results against the numbers of FY 2011 which reflected tough business environment. In the last financial year revenue increased by 11.7% to NOK 3.8 B, gross profit added 1.9% and reached NOK 1.8 B, operating and net income declined by 83.7% and 84.6%, respectively, and equaled NOK 118.2 M and NOK 147.4 M. The results of 2011 were affected by the launch of new harvesting and processing plant in Froya. The facility could not retrieve its full potential yet, but is posed to success in the current year and the future.
