Unilever Caribbean Ltd. Makes Donations According to BAC Company Report

LONDON – 2011 was marked by TTD 60 K of donations from Unilever Caribbean to the Mt. D'Or Government Primary School. Books and musical instruments were bought for this money. The instruments will be used to start the first music class at the school in October 2012. The books were stored at the school library and are aimed at both pupils and teachers.

Unilever Caribbean occupies steady market position in the region. Year over year it delivers strong performance with moderate improvements. Thus, in 2011 revenue went up 6.5% to TTD 527.4 M, gross profit added 2.4% to reach TTD 196.1 M, operating income increased by 10.6% to TTD 77.8 M, net income equaled TTD 59.3 M which was a 14.7% growth. Strong results were mainly brought by solid performance of the second half of 2011. First quarter of 2012 started moderately, with revenue of TTD 127.5 M, gross profit of TTD 49 M, operating income of TTD 16.5 M, net income of TTD 12.4 M. Trinidad and Tobago was the main revenue bringer, accounting for 59% of all company’s sales.

The outlook for the company is cautious. If Unilever will be able to reduce warehouse and storage costs, then its manufacturing facility at Champs Fleurs will remain profitable. Otherwise the factory might be closed in the future.

Founded in 1929 as Trinidad Manufacturing and Refining, and later known as Unilever Cribbean, the company is headquartered in Champs Fleurs (Trinidad and Tobago). It engages in manufacturing of foods as well as Health & personal care products at its old facility Champs Fleurs. The company also has subsidiaries in the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.
