LONDON - Comtec Solar Systems Group Limited has been given a world’s top solar wafer company title by Green World Investor, an analysis blog covering food security, technology advance, climate changes, trade equality, unemployment, poverty, and interconnection of all these concepts (main focus on India and China). Among other top wafer companies are GCL, ReneSola and LDK.
Comtec has been delivering adverse financial performance in the last years. While 2008 and 2010 seemed strong, 2009 and 2011 appeared to be failure. The last FY even put incomes below zero point: with revenue of CNY 1 billion net income amounted CNY (46.3) million. This results was due to weak H2 2011: revenue equaled CNY 442 million, gross profit dropped to CNY (43) million, operating income was CNY (155.5) million, and net income amounted CNY (148) million. Despite decrease in the selling price of polysilicons and modules, increase in demand for solar wafers and improvement of company’s shipments, the decrease in wafers average selling prices dragged Comtec to financial loss.
Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Shanghai Industrial Zone (Shanghai, China) Comtec Solar Systems Group Limited engages in design and manufacture of solar ingot and wafer. Current company’s capacity is 600 MW, but in 2012 this number is planned to expand to 1400 MW with facilities expansion. The company trades on Hong Kong Stock under the ticker 0712.
