Johnson Controls Inc. to Increase Lead-Acid Batteries Price According to BAC Company Report

LONDON – An 8% price increase for lead-acid batteries effective May 2012 was announced by Johnson Controls, Inc. recently. The action was company’s response to rising environmental awareness and increasing safety standards that require significant investment in them. Johnson Controls sees the importance of stricter environment standards, but also admits they bring need for investing. To comply with the current regulations, the company has already put USD 160 million into battery manufacturing facilities upgrades, and another USD 50 million aid is on the way.
Company’s financial performance was stable in 2011. Q4 ended with revenue of USD 10.4 B, operating income of USD 549 M, net income of USD 410 M, profit margin of 3.9%. FY 2011 showed improvement against 2010, bringing revenue of USD 40.8 B (up 19%), gross profit of USD 6.2 B (up 16.7%), operating income of USD 2.1 B (up 19.7%), and net income of USD 1.6 B (up 8.9%). Acquisitions and increased production volumes in automotive industry were main drivers for the company’s growth.
