LONDON – 2011 started for Ras Al Khaimah with top management announcement of their plans to invest into UAE real estate. This market undergoes period of rapid growth now, so the company is diversifying to a totally new business area. Latest interim report for the period ended December 2011 confirmed the construction of an accommodation building in Nakheel area in Ras Al Khaimah. The project took AED 30,120,400 of investment of estimated AED 33 M. This is the first step into real estate market for Ras Al Khaimah, and its launch attracted much public attention.
Ras Al Khaimah has not been financially profitable last periods. Quarterly results reveal fluctuations in indices, which impedes any future projections. December 2011 brought revenue of AED 15.91 M, gross profit of AED 0.56 M, operating income of (3.47) M, net income of AED (0.9). FY 2011 was also a financial loss: revenue declined to AED 55.6% (20.9% down), gross profit increased to a positive number AED 2.11 M, operating income reduced the previous loss and equaled AED (7.31) M, net income dropped below zero and stopped at (0.61) M. Financial insolvency was brought by temporary closure of manufacturing facility in May-June, which led to supply shortages. Attraction of new investment capital and business diversification may rejuvenate company’s financials.
