Scintillators are luminescent materials, which re-emit part of the absorbed energy in the form of light. The emission can be of different types: fluorescence (prompt), delayed fluorescence and phosphorescence (delayed with different wavelength). The radiation detection and monitoring has witnessed various technological advancements in recent years.
