Other EOR Technologies Submarket Forecast 2013-2023

The other EOR technologies submarket is calculated to see production of 78,800 bpd in 2013, visiongain forecasts. This will have increased to 135,500 bpd in 2018 and to 155,500 bpd in 2023. The market will see a CAGR of 11.5% in the first half of the forecast period from 2013-2018 and a CAGR of 2.8% in the second half of the forecast period from 2018 to 2023, to produce an overall CAGR of 7.0%. 

The Brazilian Thermal EOR Market Forecast 2013-2023

The Brazilian thermal EOR market is calculated to see production of 21,500 bpd in 2013, visiongain forecasts. This will have increased to 24,500 bpd in 2018 and to 29,000 bpd in 2023. All production in the country will come from projects using steam injection technology. The market will see a CAGR of 2.6% in the first half of the forecast period from 2013-2018 and a CAGR of 3.4% in the second half of the forecast period from 2018 to 2023, to produce an overall CAGR of 3.0%.

Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL)

Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL) is one of the world’s largest independent crude oil and natural gas producers. The company has a diverse asset portfolio, which includes natural gas, light oil, heavy oil, in-situ oil sands production, oil sands mining and associated upgrading facilities.

NRL’s primary EOR operation is located at the Primrose field in north-eastern Alberta, with a thermal in-situ operation used to produce oil from oil sands. The Primrose field where production first started in 1985 using CSS technology amounts to 107,000 bpd. CNRL also has a thermal EOR operation located at the Tangleflags field in Saskatchewan, which currently produces around 5,000 bpd using SAGD technology, as well as the 13,000 bpd Wolf Lake operation located near the Primrose project in the Cold Lake region. Before the end of the year CNRL’s Kirby South project will start production. The first phase of the CAD$1.25 billion SAGD project in the South Athabasca region will add a further 40,000 bpd of production capacity.
