Market of Acrylonitrile in China

As one of the most important producers and consumers of acrylonitrile around the world, China witnessed fast growth in demand but stable growth in production from 2006 to 2010. China's acrylonitrile is generally in short supply in recent years.

As of June 2011, there are only 10 acrylonitrile producers in China. Most of them are held by PetroChina and Sinopec, two largest petrochemical magnates in China. What is the performance of these producers in acrylonitrile production from 2006 to 2010? And whether some new projects or capacity expansion are planned as of June 2011 in China? Moreover, adopting the popular method of propylene and ammonia oxidation in the world, China faced the short supply in propylene, key raw material of acrylonitrile. China is still a net importer of acrylonitrile in 2010. To meet the large demand of acrylonitrile in domestic market, China has to import a large amount of acrylonitrile annually, while the export volume of acrylonitrile is zero in 2009 and 2010.
