Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) is an Indian gas company with interests spread across India, Egypt, Mainland China and Russia. GAIL accounts for 51% of natural gas sold in India, a majority of which is consumed by the power sector. GAIL holds the GSPA for the Turkmenistan- Af –Pak – India pipeline. GAIL has recently taken an aggressive target to transmit 121.55 MMSCMD of natural gas annually. The company is also pursuing success in opening the city gas distribution networks for 5 major Indian regions as Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Pune, Tripura etc. GAIL also plans to expand city gas networks in Egypt and Mainland China through joint ventures.
