Key Highlights

The combination of a skilled, cost efficient workforce, tariff-free access to European Union (EU) markets to attract foreign investment, and entry into the EU in 2004 assisted Polish economic growth. During 2005–08 the Polish economy increased at a CAGR of 6.00%. In addition, in 2009, when the majority of European economies were deteriorating, the Polish economy recorded a 1.7% growth in comparison to figures from the previous year. In 2008, the government reduced personal income tax to 19.0% and 40.0% to 18.0% and 32.0% in 2009. These income tax reforms introduced by the Polish government in 2009 increased consumer spending, which in turn boosted private consumption. Supported by the strong economic environment and EU membership, the Polish construction industry grew at a CAGR of 12.87% over the review period. Consequently, the Polish construction materials market grew at a CAGR of 12.82% during the review period. WMI expects the Polish construction materials market to grow at a CAGR of 9.06% over the forecast period.
