Key Highlights
Following the after-effects of global recession, the South Korean economy recovered rapidly and posted 12.9% growth in 2010. The government’s stimulus plan has been successful and should continue to drive growth in both the infrastructure and industrial sectors. Some investment plans are to take place over 10 years, indicating that value creation will continue in the sector over the coming years, and is expected to last until the end of 2014. The country is continuing its early-stage efforts to move away from reliance on oil as its major industry and is expected to spend approximately US$18.5 billion by 2013 on alternative energy projects, such as solar technology.
