Key Highlights

Over the review period, the turnover of the Hungarian construction equipment market recorded a Compounded Annual Rate of Change (CARC) of -6.13%, largely due to a slowdown in the construction industry. In 2009, the construction equipment turnover stood at US$106.1 million, which represented a decline of 42.6% from the previous year’s value. Demand for construction machinery in Hungary suffered in 2009 as more than 1,000 construction companies went into liquidation during the year. However, the construction equipment market is expected to improve throughout the forecast period as a result of increased government spending on public works and EU–funded investment in infrastructure and urban renewal programs under the New Hungary Development Plan (NHDP). WMI expects the Hungarian construction equipment market to register a CAGR of 10.48% during the forecast period, to reach a value of US$185.5 million in 2015.
