SUMMARY

Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DDTCM) is undertaking the construction of a tower project in the UAE.

The project involves the construction of a 10,835m2 iconic structure with a simple rectangular form (frame-shaped tourism tower) consisting of two 150m tall towers with 50-story each connected by a 100m2 bridge on a 24,220m2 land.

It includes the construction of an underground car park, a library and a terrace cafe, and the installation of elevators and safety systems.

The ground floor will feature a museum gallery with a space for conferences and exhibitions. The 150m tall structure will have elevators taking visitors to a viewing platform and cafe on a glass bridge that will offer views across the city.

The conceptual design proposal has been prepared by Fernando Donis of the Netherlands.

In May 2013, Arab Center for Engineering Studies (ACES) of Dubai completed geotechnical works for the project. The contract was awarded by Dubai Municipality with a scope of drilling boreholes up to 50m deep, geophysical testing, instrumentation monitoring, laboratory testing and reporting.

Hyder Consultant has been appointed as a design consultant.

In September 2013, the Dubai Municipality invited contractors to submit bids by September 22, 2013, for a contract to build the project.

Al Rostamani Pegel has been appointed as construction contractor.

Construction work commenced in December 2013 and scheduled to be completed by the end of November 2017.
