Word from the author

Russia’s economy is recovering rapidly after last year’s slump, together with the country’s construction industry. The improvement in the situation in construction has been possible thanks to the recent pick up in investment, mainly in infrastructure but also in residential projects as demand for housing has remained relatively strong. A substantial part of the Russian construction market is currently made up of projects related to the Sochi Olympics and the Vladivostok APEC Summit. Beyond 2014, when these investments are completed, the domestic construction market will continue to be propelled by ambitious plans to upgrade the country’s transport infrastructure, mostly roads.
