Corn Products China News 1209 (12 issues per year)
Editor Notes

Domestic corn especially in Northeast China underwent armyworm and typhoon disasters in Aug. 2012, decreasing the output of corn this year. Although government hasn't published the decrease in the output of corn caused by the two disasters, it is predicted that domestic output of corn in 2012 may be equal or even a little less than that in 2011. The decreasing output of corn may make domestic supply of corn tight in 2013.

With the approaching of Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day, domestic demand for some corn products such as corn starch, glucose syrup, maltose syrup and MSG increases in food manufacturing industry. Besides, the market prices of some corn products as feed see increase including distillers dried grain with solubles, corn gluten meal, corn fibre and corn germ meal due to the increasing demand from feed industry.

In Sept., Japan's 'purchasing Diaoyu Islands' intensified the diplomatic relation between China and Japan. Considering the large trade volume in corn products between the two countries, if the issue can't be well solved, the import and export of China's corn products may be affected.
