Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority (SEWA) is a government owned energy utility. It undertakes generation, transmission and distribution of electricity; and distribution of water and natural gas in Sharjah. The authority operates six fossil-fueled power plants at Layyah; Wasit; Hamriyah; Khorfakkan; Kalba; and Abu Mussa, with a total installed capacity of 2,894.56 MW. Its transmission system comprises 69 transformers with total capacity of 8,340 MVA. Its transmission and distribution consisted of 583.35 km of overhead lines and 920.15 km of underground cables. The authority offers water services through two underground well fields and seven desalination plants, with a total installed water capacity of 113.06 MGPD. The authority serves residential, commercial and industrial customers across Sharjah through its offices located in Al Majaz, Bu Daneq, Al Jazzat, Industrial Area, Al Taawun and Halwan areas. SEWA is headquartered in Sharjah, the UAE.

The authority focuses to improve its network infrastructure and enhance customer service levels. It commissioned four new 33 KV distribution substations, namely Al Khan substation 3; Al Khan substation 4; Al Nahda substation; and Al Noof substation; and introduced new electronic bill payment services.
