Top 100 exhibitions and Top 25 organisers in Asia (Update - Dec 2013)
Executive summary

This is the seventh edition of this annual BSG report.

This report tracks the Top 100 exhibitions and the Top 25 organisers in Asia. The ranking of the Top 25 organisers is based on both publicly available data as well as BSG’s informed estimates for privately-held companies. Due to the confidentiality of some of these figures, BSG does not publish the revenue figures of the privately-held companies. Companies ranked in this report, however, are welcome to approach BSG to discuss their own figures.

More than one fourth of the Top 25 organisers are entities and associations that are in some substantial way government-supported. Ranked by revenues, BSG estimates that Reed Exhibitions was the top organiser in Asia in 2012-2013, while China Foreign Trade Group moved up one place to second. UBM Asia, a subsidiary of UBM plc is ranked third with revenues of US$307 million.

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) holds the fourth with exhibition-related revenues of US$234 million in 2012-2013, while Messe Frankfurt rounded out the top five.

Global Sources, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Allworld Exhibitions, Business Guide-Sha Inc. and Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), comprised the rest of the Top Ten. Of those five, only NASDAQ-listed Global Sources publishes its exhibition-related revenues (US$89 million in 2012).

BSG’s ranking of the Top 100 exhibitions in Asia is based on 2012/2013 data. The net size of exhibitions is calculated using BSG’s own estimates of space occupied and sold. When possible, these figures are cross-checked against organisers’ size claims, floor plans and exhibition directories
