Menthol falls on subdued demand

23 Nov 2009 • by Natalie Aster

NEW DELHI: Menthol prices today fell by Rs 5 a kg in the national capital on subdued demand from pharma and other consuming industries. Adequate stocks following a pick up in supplies from producing belts also put pressure on the prices.

Menthol bold crystal, flake and mentha oil prices fell by Rs 5 to Rs 660, Rs 645 and Rs 600 per kg, respectively on weak trend in futures trade. Marketmen said reduced offtake by consuming industries against increased arrivals from producing belts led t he decline in menthol prices at the wholesale chemical market here. Elsewhere, other chemicals moved in a tight range in the absence of any worthwhile activity.
