The global economic crisis and local economic difficulties hit the power sector of Portugal considerably. At present, the situation is gradually improving, but the local renewable sector is unlikely to reach the pre-crisis level in the near term. Generation from renewable sources is expected to account for slightly over 29 percent of the overall power output in 2015 and it will be around 29.5 percent in 2024.
In Canada, non-hydropower renewables sector demonstrates solid growth in 2015. For instance, the wind power capacity is forecast to grow by 14 percent in 2015, while the solar power capacity is set to grow by approximately 20 percent in the same year.
