Apache and Chesapeake Energy are amongst the Leading Operators of Granite Wash in terms of Net Acreage and Gross Production. Some of the major companies operating in the Granite Wash include Apache, Chesapeake Energy, Linn Energy, Devon Energy, Forest Oil and Newfield Exploration. Out of these, Apache and Chesapeake Energy lead in terms of acreage and production. Apache has the highest net acreage and gross oil production, while Chesapeake Energy leads in terms of gross total production and gross natural gas production.

One of the reasons for the emergence of Apache as one of the largest net acreage holders in Granite Wash is the acquisition of Cordillera in April 2012. The acquisition helped Apache to approximately double its Granite Wash acreage.
