Ghana Commercial Bank Ltd. Invests In Typhoid Project According to BAC Company Report

LONDON – The sum spent by Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) on Typhoid Treatment Research Project recently accounts for GHS 50 K. The project will last four years and will be dedicated to Typhoid fever complications, emergency surgical intervention, illness impact on health, and treatment schemes. Ghanaian people are extremely in need of public sanitation conditions improvement, hygienic habits promotion, sanitary amenities, and free drinking water access. The cheque with the donation was received at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

Ghana Commercial Bank ended last quarter with strong results, delivering improvement in financials. Interest income amounted GHS 81.9 M, Net interest income comprised GHS 70.7 M, Net income before taxes equaled GHS 36.3 M, and Net income reached GHS 26.8 M. the company has set course to expand its offering portfolio, deploy modern information systems, provide integrated approach to banking services. Company’s policy will enable GCB to recover from weak 2011 results. In the financial year ended December 2011 Interest income declined by 34.1%, Net interest income lost 27.8%, Net income before taxes plummeted by 56.4%, Net income decreased by 64.6%. Weak local and international markets were main suppressing factors unable to overcome.
