Need to Process Images by CR is Declining in China with New Technologies Adopted, Reports Maverick China Research

13 Sep 2012 • by Natalie Aster

All CR units shipped in 2011 were multifunctional units. The fact that the CR market is shrinking means that it is no longer cost-effective for suppliers to carry dedicated purpose units. Of the units sold in 2011, 91% were single slot units. Multi-slot units are typically used to process larger numbers of images. As hospitals adopt new forms of technology, the need to process large numbers of images by CR is declining.

According to the report “China Computed Radiography (CR) Market Assessment and Outlook 2012-2015” by Maverick China Research, almost three quarters of the hospitals surveyed possessed at least one CR system. 55% owned only one system; a few hospitals had as many as four.
