Al Ezz Dekheila Steel Company Alexandria SAE Delivered Steady Incomes Despite Challenging Environment According to BAC Company Report

LONDON - 2011 was a tough year for Al Ezz Dekheila Steel Company (EZDK): political unrest in Egypt impeded with the usual business process, global steel industry slowed down. In 2011 EZDK sold 1.89 million tones of long steel and 0.89 million tones of flat steel. While long steel was mainly consumed in Egypt (94%), about a half of flat products were exported to foreign customers (40%). EZDK generated 65% of total revenues for its parent company Ezzsteel.

The steel plant produced 1,858,069 tonnes of long steel products in 2011, which is a minor increase of 0.6% over the previous year. Flat products output amounted 899,117 tonnes (down 11.5%), and billets added 2.8% to its previous amount and reached 1,985,516 tonnes. These three types of products bring 39%, 19% and 42% of total revenue amount, respectively.

As for the latest published financial results for 2011, they reflected moderate finish of the year. Revenue added 10.9% to EGP 14 B, gross profit gained 11.4% and amounted EGP 1.9 B, operating income increased by 16.9% to EGP 1.6 B, net income equaled EGP 775.1 M which is a 14.4% increase over the corresponding period in 2010.

Founded in 1982 and headquartered in Alexandria (Egypt), Al Ezz Dekheila Steel Company engages in steel products manufacture (flat, long and billets). In 2006 in became a part of Ezzsteel, but still composes its own financial reports and statistics. Al Ezz Dekheila Steel Company is the largest steel manufacturing facility in Egypt with annual capacity of 3 million tones. The company trades on Cairo Stock Exchange under the ticker IRAX.
