IHS Nigeria Plc Will Expand Geographically According to BAC Company Report

LONDON – IHS Nigeria plans massive expansion in 2012, as can be concluded from the company’s plan to invest NGN 500 million into new constructions. The company has built telecommunication 200 sites in 11 years of operation, but only 850 are a property of IHS. The goal for the next five years is nothing but ambitious – to own 10 to 15 thousand towers. And achievement of such a big objective lies in geographic diversification. Apart from deepening of telecom network in Nigeria, Ghana and Sudan, IHS will expand to Democratic Republic of Congo, Ivory Coast, Rwanda, Uganda, and Kenya.
IHS plans to fully deploy its ability of investors attraction. Africa is the fastest growing telecom market now, yet still greatly undeveloped. The construction cost of a tower may reach USD 600 K, which is the main obstacle to network penetration. IHS has the resources and ability to overcome the impediment and contribute to African telecommunications infrastructure.
Last year was not a success for the company. While revenue in FY 2011 lost 14% and equaled NGN 14.9 B over 2010, net income fell below zero point to reach NGN (1.7) B. the latest reported quarter ended October 2011 reveals revenue of NGN 3.6 B, gross profit of NGN 502 M, operating income of NGN (1.5), and net income of NGN (0.6) B. Unfavorable and unpredictable currency exchange rates avert any financial forecast, but firm confidence of company’s CEO in its success incites investors un future profits.
