Shenzhen Sunway Communication Co., Ltd. Acquired Laird Technologies According to BAC Company Report

LONDON – Earlier in March Shenzhen Sunway Communication announced its purchase of Laird Technologies from British-based Laird PLC for RMB 198 million (USD 31.2 million). Based in Beijing, Laird Technologies engaged in Handset Antennae, but in June 2011 the company announced its exit from the business. This acquisition has completed the exit, and now the manufacturing facility in Beijing is being retrofitted to suit core Sunway business – mobile antennas.
Shenzhen Sunway Communication is financially successful last years, and acquisitions will help strengthen its position on Chinese market. Sunway displays good results, which is witnessed from latest financial report. According to such, in FY 2011 revenue went up by 13.6% to reach CNY 162.8 M, gross profit increased by 29.6% and amounted CNY 107.8 M, operating income added 59% to its previous amount and now matches CNY 83 M, net income grew by 56.4% to CNY 75.4 M.
In the first half of 2011, global shipments of mobile phones went up by 15.39%, smart phone shipments performed a 72.12% increase. Global total sales of mobile phones comprised 737 million units, an increase of 15.39%. If not the Japanese earthquake, smart phones sales would add over 75% against the first half of 2010.
Chinese mobile phone market has grown faster than the global one. In the first half of 2011 135.68 million handsets were sold in China, an increase of 22.4%. Smartphone sales were 32.45 million units, an increase of 34.9%, and it is slower than worldwide growth.
Founded in 2006 and headquartered in Shenzhen (China), Shenzhen Sunway Communication engages in design, manufacture and distribution of mobile platform antennas (for laptops, smartphones, navigators, and so on). In 2010 the company got listed on Shenzhen Stock Exchange under the ticker 300136.
