LONDON – The Asia-Pacific home furniture and housewares retail channel, apart from Japan, is highly fragmented and primarily served by small, independent, family-run stores.
Nitori Co., Ltd. (Nitori) was the top performer among the leading home furniture and housewares retailers in the region. The company’s strong performance was driven by the high scores received for scale and growth and operational efficiency pillars. Nitori was also the strongest performer under the financial performance pillar. However, the company’s performance was comparable to the channel average. The weakest of all was BALS CORPORATION, whose poor performance was driven by the low scores received across all the pillars.
