LONDON – The UK building plaster product manufacturing industry is expected to generate revenue totalling EUR 550 million in 2011-2012, up 1.9% on the previous year's cyclical trough.

The three major manufacturers dominate the local industry – British Gypsum, Knauf Drywall and Etex Group, accounting for approximately 90% of annual industry revenue and production. The remaining enterprises are very small scale manufacturers, often one or two person operations that produce bespoke fibrous plaster mouldings (e.g. ceiling roses) and ornate cornices. Half of the firms in the industry employ a workforce of less than five people, and 63% employ less than 10 people (25 establishments).
