LONDON – The global shipments increased by 280% last year, while Android smartphones attained a global smartphone market share of 32% in a relatively short span of time from just 13% in 2010. HTC’s Wildfire series and Samsung’s Galaxy series of smartphones are leading the market share, with the U.S. and China taking the lead from a regional perspective.
Google recently announced in its Q3 2011 conference call that the total number of Android activations had surpassed 190 million, up from 135 million in Q2 2011.
