Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR) Global Market to 2020 - Demand for Solution-Styrene Butadiene Rubber (S-SBR) Increasing In-line with Uptake of High-Performance Tires. The global demand for Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR) has been steadily increasing during the last 10 years, from 3,286,677 tons in 2000 to 4,571,201 tons in 2010. A significant portion of this increase in demand for SBR was from the Asia-Pacific region, and the same trend is expected to continue in the near future. Global demand for SBR is expected to further increase at a CAGR of 6% during the forecast period, to reach 8,201,902 tons by 2020.

Tyre, footwear and construction sectors, with 3,363,045 tons, 315,770 tons and 247,000 tons of demand respectively, were the leading end-use segments for SBR in 2010. Together they account for more than 85% of global SBR demand. In terms of end-uses of SBR, a similar trend is expected to continue throughout the forecast period.

Polystyrene (PS) and Expandable Polystyrene (EPS) Global Market to 2020. The global demand for polystyrene and expandable polystyrene increased from 13 million tons in 2000 to around 14.9 million tons in 2010. The demand grew at a CAGR of 1.4% during 2000-2010. Packaging, construction, appliances and consumer electronics industries were the major consumers of polystyrene and expandable polystyrene. In the forecast period 2010-2020, the global demand is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.7%, to increase the overall demand for polystyrene and expandable polystyrene to 23.5 million tons by 2020.

Packaging was the dominant end-use sector for both polystyrene and expandable polystyrene globally. The packaging industry consumed 41.5% of global polystyrene demand and 47.9% of global expandable polystyrene demand in 2010. After packaging, the construction industry was the second major polystyrene consuming industry, accounting for 47.8% of expandable polystyrene and 7.7% of polystyrene consumption at a global level, along with furniture and building industries.
